A Case of Splenic Abscess Complicating Enteric Fever
Keywords:
Splenic abscess, Enteric fever, Abdominal pain
Abstract
Splenic abscess is a rare and fatal clinical entity with only few case reports published inliterature. About 38 cases have been described since 1977. Here we report a post enteric fever patient presenting with abdominal pain and diagnosed with splenic abscess. Ultrasound-guided aspirate of the abscess grew salmonella typhisensitive to antibiotic ceftriaxone. The patient responded to intravenous antibiotic and was discharged in a stable condition.
