Palliative Care: A Care Beyond Cure
Abstract
Palliative Care is becoming an essential part of the healthcare delivery system. It focuses on the holistic needs of seriously ill patients. Palliative care is mainly for patients suffering from serious illnesses with fewer chances of returning to normal. Its goal is to help the patient have a dignified life for the rest of their days and to support families to cope with several traumas
associated with caring for a person suffering from terminal illnesses. It addresses the patient’s physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, social, and family issues by employing several methods like counseling, communication, etc. The severity of the disease poses problems for both caregivers and patients. This paper helps us understand all these things associated with palliative care in detail and the need to promote palliative care as there is a dire need for it.
