Abstract
Stroke in the young has a varied etiology - commonly cardiac, haematological and vasculitic. Additionally, cryptogenic strokes contribute to this pool. Here we report a very unusual case of simultaneous infarction of anterolateral medulla bilaterally with a corresponding clinical picture of Wallenberg syndrome. CT Angiogram of arch and brain vessels did not show any significant abnormality. Extensive evaluation for etiology of stroke yielded negative results. Patient had a near complete recovery from his symptoms during follow-up. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first case report of its kind in the literature.
