Abstract

A 48-year-old man presented with complains of easy fatigability and progressive pain-less loss of vision in both the eyes. He was diagnosed to have severe anemia due to Vitamin B12 deficiency along with pancytopenia. Fundus examination revealed bilateral Subhyaloid Hemorrhages near macula with multiple Roth’s spots and flame shaped hemorrhages in all the quadrants. He received blood transfusions and intravenous hydoxycobalamine injections. Pancytopenia and vision improved to near normal with just treatment of anemia. This case report emphasizes that prompt and adequate treatment of megaloblastic anemia will improve the retinopathy due to it and prevent further progression of vision loss.
